The maisonette apartment is located on the top floor of a listed art nouveau building in Munich’s neighbourhood, Lehel. The total space adds up to 320 sqm with a roof terrace and a balcony on the 4^th floor.

Our clients, a young entrepreneur couple with child, are very interested in art and are actively involved in cultural live. Both of them travel a lot and enjoy retreating to their own four walls as often as possible.

Due to the existing room structure there was little scope for constructional intervention to begin with. However, together with the clients, new design possibilities could be found in order to reform the spaces effectively. On the 4th floor a new unit with bathroom, storage and utility space was integrated, along which an 18m long cupboard front is exposed, ending in the changing and gym space and allowing a definite separation between day- and night area.

On the top floor the existing roof structure with the kitchen at one side was designed completely open-plan, in order to achieve a spacious feel and transparency. The selected furniture is complemented by the paintings and many pieces of art, which can be found in nearly every room.
