AIT ARCHITEKTURSALONMUNICH, GERMANY | MAY 2010 The AIT ArchitekturSalon provides a space of 600 sqm for exhibitions and discussions on architecture and design. It also acts as a platform for leading companies to present their products. In this context eins:33 designed a new show kitchen for Gaggenau. Here, cooking events and architecture lunches will be hosted. The space, located in the former electricity power station, is a 35 metre long hall, providing a neutral white background for the products on display. In order to generate a bold contrast to this setting, the Gaggenau show kitchen was designed all in black with white Corian inlays. Subtle back-lit pictograms illustrating the different functions of the kitchen were integrated into the Corian material, demonstrating great attention to detail. Due to the unusual, long, but narrow space, the main aim was to create a flexible, multifunctional kitchen arrangement. The interplay of open and closed surfaces in the front counter as well as in the back wall, where the brand‘s premium appliances are displayed, allows a free view to the surrounding space, thus avoiding the appearance of a conventional kitchen unit. The front counter can easily be moved, extending or reducing the space for the visitor and cook, as required. The rear of the display serves as a magazine rack on which the various AIT issues and news booklets are laid out. photos: Dominik Gigler
