LAURÈL WINDOW DISPLAY

CONCEPT | AUGUST 2009

Taking up the winter|autumn season‘s collection themes of Rock Glam, Urban Sauvage, City Race, Manhattan Skylline and Winter Safari, we set out to collect ideas for the pitch to design the Laurèl shop windows.

The brief required the design to reflect urbanity and modernity and suggested the colour theme to be fairly neutral due to the vivid colours of the collection. The four different window looks should be easily reassembled according to season, which lead us to the idea of basing the installation on the concept of  a tangram, a Chinese puzzle. The window display consists of a basic frame module with drilled in holes through which wire roping can be threaded. The tangram modules, made of Forex sheets, are covered in a variety of materials, e.g. with a metal/mirror effect for the Christmas season. They are attached to the wiring by a clip system and can be mounted in optional order creating various shapes or patterns. They can also be  fixed horizontally creating  small tables for the  display of accessories.
